London does not believe that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict was settled during the 2020 war. British Ambassador to Armenia John Gallagher stated this on February 7.
“The United Kingdom desires that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict be resolved through a comprehensive peaceful settlement, as soon as possible and based on the main principles of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs,” Gallagher said.
He advocated that all the co-chairs of the Minsk Group: the United States, France, and Russia participate in the negotiation process on this issue. The ambassador also called on the parties to the conflict to continue steps towards resolving the conflict: to return all prisoners of war, clear the fields and investigate all allegations of human rights violations.
Gallagher advocated that all issues in the region be resolved during peace negotiations.
It is worth noting that earlier Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that the Karabakh conflict had been settled. He also does not recognise the existence of Nagorno-Karabakh. Official Baku calls the republic "the territory of Azerbaijan, where Russian peacekeepers are temporarily stationed."
