North Caucasus outsiders in quality-of-life rating

The federal republics of the North Caucasian Federal District were near the bottom of the quality-of-life rating in 2021.

In the ranking Karachay-Cherkessia took the penultimate, 84th place, Ingushetia - 82nd. North Ossetia - 76th, Kabardino-Balkaria - 75th place. Chechnya - 74th, Dagestan - 69th place. The rating was published by RIA Novosti. The Stavropol Territory, which was included in the top thirty most successful subjects, moved from 23rd position to 27th.

The rating is based on 67 indicators that assess the state of certain aspects of living conditions and the situation in the social sphere. Data includes Russian-annexed Crimea.

Previously, all regions of the North Caucasus Federal District, as well as the Krasnodar Territory, Kalmykia and Adygea were at the end of the annual rating for the availability of mortgages. In the North Caucasus, only 17% of families can afford to take out a loan to buy real estate.

The lowest pensions in Russia are in the North Caucasus. This follows from the published data on the average pension by region as of October 1.

In 2020, the highest unemployment rate among Russian regions was recorded in Ingushetia (29.8%), Chechnya (18.5%), Tuva (18%), Dagestan (15.7%) and North Ossetia (15.4%).
