Batyr Boromangnaev, the chairman of the opposition Yabloko party's Kalmyk office, was subjected to an administrative protocol on the transmission of material denigrating Russian authorities on social media. The activist drew historical parallels between Putin's government and Nazi Germany's practices. He could be faced with a fine of up to 1640 euros.
Boromangnaev was taken to the Elista police station, where an employee of the Republican Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs' Center for Combating Extremism drew out an administrative protocol against him. This is a post from January that was shared on Facebook.

He stressed that his persecution stems from his political stance and criticism of the ruling structure.
Batyr Boromangnaev was previously found guilty of insulting the government, as represented by Russian President Vladimir Putin, and sentenced to a fine of 246 euros by the Elista City Court.
