Dagestan launches campaign to combat extremist ideology

The Ministry of Youth Affairs of the Federal Republic of Dagestan allocated 17.000 euros to support projects to prevent ideological extremism and terrorism and announced a competition for grant support for projects to prevent this ideology.

Public, non-commercial organizations and movements registered in Russia and carrying out their activities in the Federal Republic of Dagestan can participate in the competition. At the end of the third round of the competition, five winners will be selected who will receive 3,190 euros to implement their projects.

In turn, the Ministry of National Policy and Religious Affairs of Dagestan announced the start of a republican contest to counter ideological terrorism in the media. Representatives of mass media, public figures, and bloggers with an active civil position of ideological opposition to terrorism in Dagestan will participate in the competition. The winners of the competition are awarded diplomas and a cash prize.

Since the beginning of the year, the activities of members of the underground gang have been suppressed in the federal republic due to the creation of 15 banned cells. Three terrorist crimes have been prevented, two bandits have been neutralized, and 37 militants and their accomplices have been detained.

The situation in the republic in the field of countering terrorism in 2022 has been normalizing. However, the prerequisites for the formation of new terrorist groups from among supporters of radical religious views continue to be preserved.
