On October 17, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that the Armenian government's draft decision to open three checkpoints on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, to provide a connection between eastern Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan, has been formally circulated for several months. "The government of Armenia is waiting for a positive reaction from Azerbaijan," he stated on Twitter.

On the same day, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Leyla Abdullayeva said that if there is an official statement about the views of the Prime Minister of Armenia, it will be presented to the public.

Notably, on August 18, the National Security Service of Armenia published a project proposing the creation of checkpoints in some parts of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. The project involves the creation of new checkpoints at the state border of Armenia to organize and implement the movement of people, goods, and vehicles across the state border.

The official media of Armenia writes that in the direction of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, it is planned to create new checkpoints in the Gegharkunik district (M11 highway from Sotk community to the state border of Armenia), Ararat district (Yerash community highway), Syunik district.
