On October 26, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that Armenia would do everything to ensure that a peace treaty with Azerbaijan would be signed before the end of this year.
"We are striving for it [the peace treaty] to be signed before the end of the year. How realistic is this? I will answer as follows: the government and I will make every effort to make this realistic," the head of the Cabinet said. "Armenia hopes that work on the delimitation of the border with Azerbaijan will be completed before the signing of the peace treaty. Considering that and following the results of the meetings in Prague on October 6, an agreement was reached that mutual recognition of territorial integrity would take place based on the 1991 borders, then this may be realistic since these borders are known," the Prime Minister noted.
According to him, starting a dialogue between [separatist] Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan is also very important. "This is an important circumstance. There should be certain mechanisms to protect the rights and security of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh," Pashinyan emphasized.
