Mirzoyan and Pashinyan Receive Toivo Klaar; Bayramov Talks With Donfried

Meeting between Mirzoyan and Klaar

On December 8, Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan received Toivo Klaar, the Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia, the Press Office of the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported.

The sides exchanged views on the drafting process of a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the recent developments around the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and the process of delimitation and unblocking of regional transport infrastructures.

"Ararat Mirzoyan noted that the Armenian side is committed to its position on establishing peace and stability in the region, underscoring that the continuous provocative actions and maximalist rhetoric of Azerbaijan led to the aggravation of the fragile security situation," the report added.

The interlocutors also touched upon the activities of the EU Monitoring Mission in Armenia and stressed the importance of its role.  

Meeting between Pashinyan and Klaar

On the same day, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received Toivo Klaar, the Press Office of the Armenian Prime Minister reported.

The interlocutors discussed issues related to the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the latest developments related to the Nagorno Karabakh issue, and ensuring the rights and security guarantees of the Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians.

"The sides exchanged thoughts on issues related to regional security, peace and stability, border delimitation between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and the process of unblocking the region's transport infrastructure," the report added.

The parties emphasized the deployment of the EU civilian mission in Armenia and referred to its activities. Prime Minister Pashinyan emphasized the importance of further discussions in the format of the Prague meeting.

Meeting between Bayramov and Donfried

On December 8, a telephone conversation took place between Jeyhun Bayramov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Karen Donfried, the Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs of the United States, the Press Office of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry reported.

During the telephone conversation, views were exchanged on the current situation and prospects of the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as various issues of the cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and the United States.

"Minister Jeyhun Bayramov reported on the current state of negotiations on the peace agreement, efforts on opening communications, and delimitation issues. In addition, recent illegal activities carried out using the Lachin road were mentioned," the report said.

Karen Donfried emphasized that the United States supports efforts to ensure regional stability. She said it is crucial to advance the peace process through the agreements reached between the leaders and ministers.
