Supporters of Chechnya's Independence Protest in Brussels
On November 27, a conference of supporters of Chechnya's independence was held in Brussels, organized by Akhmed Zakayev, the de-facto Prime Minister of Ichkeria abroad.
Leader of unrecognised Ichkeria met with officials in Ukraine
On 22 May, the delegation of the unrecognised Chechen Republic of Ichkeria, headed by Prime Minister in exile Akhmed Zakayev, met in Kyiv with representatives of the relevant defence committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, deputy Oleksiy Goncharenko, the head of the Crimean Tatar movement banned in Russia, Mustafa Dzhemilev, as well as Chechen fighters in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Kadyrov threatened Akhmed Zakayev with reprisals
The head of Chechnya promised to burn Akhmed Zakayev, who lives in Great Britain. Kadyrov said that Zakayev promised to return to Chechnya but did not keep his word.

“Caucasus Watch” is seeking local specialists from Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and the North Caucasus region, to assist our research endeavours and help enrich our content.
“Caucasus Watch” is an independent platform, which provides coverage of recent developments in various locations of the Caucasus region for the German and overall European stakeholders. We are an international team of Caucasus enthusiasts and are currently looking for local contributors who focus on social, economic, political and security dynamics of the said region.
The platform offers: I) a flexible format of cooperation, as well as competitive remuneration; II) access to English and German speaking readership in the wider European region; III) an opportunity to join the network of regional specialists through the initiatives and events to be organized by the Caucasus Watch and partner institutions.
