Israel Opens Refugee Camps in Azerbaijan for Russian Jews Fleeing Country

The mobilization news led to a massive exodus of Jews from Russia to Israel. The administration of the Jewish state has chosen to establish refugee camps in Finland and Azerbaijan to assist them. Avigdor Lieberman, the Israeli Minister of Finance, and Pnina Tamano-Shata, the Minister of Aliyah and Integration, are said to have proposed these ideas. Because of the developments in Russia, tens of thousands of Jews are anticipated to immigrate to Israel soon.

Armenia and Azerbaijan confirmed their commitment to the UN Charter and the Alma-Ata Declaration of 1991, through which both sides recognize each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty. They confirmed that this will serve as the basis for the work of the commissions on delimitation and that the next meeting of these commissions will take place in Brussels by the end of October.

Call for Contributors: Caucasus Watch is looking for experts, journalists and fact-checking specialists!

“Caucasus Watch” is seeking local specialists from Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and the North Caucasus region, to assist our research endeavours and help enrich our content.

“Caucasus Watch” is an independent platform, which provides coverage of recent developments in various locations of the Caucasus region for the German and overall European stakeholders. We are an international team of Caucasus enthusiasts and are currently looking for local contributors who focus on social, economic, political and security dynamics of the said region.
