Aliyev and Bayramov met with French Ambassador for Eastern Partnership

Brice Roquefeuil, the French Ambassador for the Eastern Partnership met with President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan. Brice Roquefeuil stated that France, as the European Union's chair, completely supports the South Caucasus peace agenda, as well as the European Union's actions in different sectors of Azerbaijani.

They praised the good growth of Azerbaijan-EU ties and remembered the Azerbaijani President's participation in the European Union's Eastern Partnership Summit in Brussels last December during their talk. The sides discussed issues related to the post-conflict period, normalisation of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, conduct of negotiations on the preparation of a peace agreement and delimitation of borders. Stressing that the Armenian side accepted the five principles put forward by Azerbaijan, the head of state noted that the Azerbaijani delegation was ready to start negotiations on a peace agreement.

During the conversation, they touched on Azerbaijan-France relations. President Aliyev mentioned his meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron in Brussels last December and this February via video. The head of state also recalled that he sent a congratulatory letter to Emmanuel Macron on his re-election as President of the French Republic.

On 3 May, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Ambassador of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the French Republic for Eastern Partnership Brice Roquefeuil.At the meeting, the process of normalisation of interstate relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia and steps taken in this direction were discussed. In particular, the sides exchanged views on the implementation of the agreements reached after the Brussels meeting. Also, the sides also exchanged views on the current situation in the region and other issues of the international agenda.
