Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Delegation Visits Israel Amid Opening of Azerbaijani Embassy

On December 28-29, the delegation headed by Fariz Rzayev, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, visited Israel, the Press Office of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry reported.

Within the framework of the visit, the next round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Israel was held. Fariz Rzayev and Ambassador Aliza Bin Nun, the head of the Political Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel, led political consultations.

During the consultations, the current situation, development prospects in the political, economic, and humanitarian spheres of bilateral relations, and practical issues related to opening the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Israel were discussed.

The Azerbaijani delegation met with Alon Ushpiz, the Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In addition, a meeting was held between the Head of the Azerbaijan Development Assistance Agency (AIDA), Elmaddin Mehdiyev, and Aviv Ezra, the Deputy Head of Israel's International Development Cooperation Agency (MASHAV). During the visit to Israel, meetings were organized with representatives of Israeli educational and scientific research centers.

"This is a rare and historic step, and I'm happy to be in the place where such a decision is being made and to be part of the process of opening the embassy," Rzayev said. "The pact between our two countries is a wonder since it is not just based on mutual interests, but also on a mutual history between two peoples, who lived together for over one thousand years," he continued, referring to the historical links between Jews and Muslims in the Caucasus mountain region.
