On July 19, the resettlement of the internally displaced people in Aghali village of Zangilan district started. This is the beginning of the mass return of the civilian population to the liberated territories of Azerbaijan.

The press service of the State Committee on the Affairs of Refugees and IDPs stated that today ten families were first sent from Zangilan town located in Masazir settlement of Absheron district to Aghali village. "By July 25, in total, 41 families, about 200 people, will be relocated to Aghali village, which was built in four stages, according to the concept of "Smart Village," the Head of the Press Service, Ibrahim Mirzayev, said. The State Committee reports that the relocation of the population to Aghali village is the beginning of the planned large-scale return. "Before the occupation, this administrative area united three villages. In that period, 40 families (154 people) lived in the First Aghali, 60 families (245 people) in the Second Aghali, and 161 families (675 people) in the Third Aghali. Currently, the total number of families from these villages is 352 (1504 people)," he added.

According to official information, the construction of 200 houses in Aghali village has been completed. The construction of another 150 houses, including two-story and three-story apartment-type houses, is ongoing.

Fuad Huseynov, the Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on the Affairs of Refugees and IDPs, said a survey was conducted among IDPs on whether they would return to their previous places of residence. "The vast majority of displaced families, that is 90 percent, said they will return. Now a separate survey is conducted among residents of each residential area," he said.
