On August 30-31, Kamran Aliyev, the Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan, visited Iran. During his visit, Kamran Aliyev held meetings with this country's head of law enforcement and judicial bodies.
According to the Press Service of the Azerbaijan Prosecutor General's Office, on August 31, Kamran Aliyev met with Ahmed Vahidi, Iran's Minister of Interior. They noted the importance of developing business relations between the law enforcement agencies of the two countries, the fight against various manifestations of crime, including the smuggling of narcotics and psychotropic substances, the handover of wanted persons to bring them to criminal responsibility, cooperation in the field of security and law enforcement activities; and other topics of interest were discussed.
Later, the Prosecutor General met with Hekmat Ali Mozaffari, the Chairman of the Supreme Administrative Justice Court of Iran.
In a meeting with Kazem Fard, the Head of the Center for Statistics and Information Technologies under the Judiciary and Justice Forces of Iran, the Prosecutor General talked about the work done on the implementation of the "Electronic Prosecution" and "Electronic Court" information systems in order to facilitate the access of citizens to justice in Azerbaijan and to expand the possibilities of applying to the prosecutor's office and judicial authorities. He pointed out that the most modern information technologies are used in the judicial system and that there is close cooperation with prestigious international organizations in this field.
During the meetings, Kamran Aliyev raised the issue of extraditing more than forty Azerbaijani citizens who fled to Iran under investigation. However, this information was not reflected in the news.
