Abbas Mousavi, the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Azerbaijan said that Tehran continues to develop transport relations with Baku. Mousavi added: "For example, a new railway has been built. Iran is not against the creation of the Zangazur corridor, and we have a main corridor with our brother Azerbaijan, which has been connecting with Nakhchivan for 30 years, and this connection is carried out through Iran. It is natural that there should be alternative corridors. The opening of a new corridor depends on Azerbaijan and Armenia, and this is an international issue."
"The principle of Iran's approach is that one country cannot affect the national interests of another country, including its neighbors," the Iranian diplomat claimed. Regarding regional cooperation, the Iranian ambassador said that the "3+3" group will help in this matter. "The first meeting of this group was held in Moscow last year, and the next meeting will be held in Tehran this year. Within the framework of this meeting, we can solve the problems of the region through dialogue, and there is progress towards normalization in the region," the diplomat stated.
Mousavi, also talked about the peace initiatives between Azerbaijan and Armenia: "One of the main principles in international relations is that in bilateral and regional discussions, different states should not define their interests in conflict with the interests of other states."
