On November 10, during a press conference following the Senate's plenary session, Alikhan Smailov, the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, said that Kazakhstan has created a unique initiative to diversify oil transportation.
"The problem is the flow of oil from the Aktau Port to the Port of Baku, which is subsequently connected to the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline," he added. "The Baku-Supsa and Baku-Batumi oil pipelines may carry Kazakh oil through the port of Baku. Additionally, a train line runs from Atyrau to Batumi and Uzbekistan. There is also a Chinese direction. We are now striving to increase and broaden oil export potential in these areas," Smailov stated.
According to the Prime Minister, the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan route will begin transporting 1.5 million metric tons of oil on January 1, 2023, with a later increase to 6–6.5 million metric tons. He mentioned the Tengizchevroil Company increasing the number of oil tank cars by two and leading rail shipments to Batumi and Uzbekistan.
