Georgian and Azerbaijani Parliamentary Delegation Participate in NATO Parliamentary Assembly

The Parliamentary Delegations of Georgia and Azerbaijan attended the annual session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, held from November 18 to November 21.

Irakli Beraia, the chair of the Defense and Security Committee and head of the Georgian Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly described the assembly as a crucial international parliamentary forum where legislators from the alliance's member and partner states discuss significant issues relating to the Euro-Atlantic space, regional security, and international security.

"In Madrid, several documents will be approved and adopted, with special attention dedicated to Georgia. This highlights the rising importance of our country on the NATO countries’ agendas. Our mission is to inform them about Georgia’s security concerns, Russian occupation and conventional and hybrid threats from an aggressor state, and the need for increased pressure on Russia," he added.

"We should also talk about progress we made on the Euro-Atlantic integration path and the need to speed up the political decision on our country’s NATO accession. Furthermore, we must focus on support for strengthening Georgia’s security, defense capabilities, and resilience to the full range of hybrid threats," the chair of the Defense and Security Committee and head of the Georgian Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly stated.

Furthermore, Representatives of Azerbaijan's Delegation to NATO and Milli Majlis were also participating in the event. MPs Siyavush Novruzov, Malahat Ibrahimgizi, Kamran Bayramov, and Elshan Musayev were present in the session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
