Irakli Garibashvili on Economic Development in Georgia

During the cabinet meeting, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili stated that growth of around 50% will be attained overall in the next three to four years, while the salaries of public officials will rise by at least 10% each year through 2026.

According to the Prime Minister, the budget will be revised in September due to the state's rapid economic expansion and new revenue. "I would like to remind the public that the wages of public sector employees are rising once more. In addition, I would like to remind the public that from roughly 2017 to 2020, salaries in the public sector have not increased practically at all, which I believe was a major error. When comparing private sector and public sector wages, the disparity is significant and must be addressed," mentioned the Georgian PM.

"I would like to emphasise once more that these trends, processes, and dynamics must be maintained; that we need even more activity from the ministries and more good initiatives that we will announce very soon and launch in September; and that we need even more good initiatives. Again, I want to emphasise the significance of the stability that we, our team, the government, and the management team have maintained throughout this difficult period, and I want to reassure the population, our people, that we will continue to maintain peace," the Prime Minister stated.

In Georgia, the public sector employs 301, 000 people, including civil servants, non-staff employees, and other workers. Approximately 60,000 educators work in public schools, and thousands more are employed by municipalities and non-profit organisations. It is noteworthy that the Georgian Ministry of Finance does not release a summary of the costs associated with paying the salaries of all 301,000 public sector employees. The Ministry imposes limitations on itself by only accounting for the salaries of 113,000 public sector employees working in ministries and major LEPLs.
