On the 14th anniversary of the Russo-Georgian 2008 August War, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, and other government officials visited the Mukhatgverdi Brothers' Cemetery in Tbilisi to pay tribute to the memory of the fallen warriors. The opposition commemorates the war anniversary on August 7, while the current administration does it on August 8.
The PM explained to the journalist that it was ex-President Mikheil Saakashvili's foolish policies, his unplanned, provocative steps, that were to blame for the former administration's not being able to avert this tragic war. "It was treachery on the part of Saakashvili and his group. They sacrificed our military, our nation, and our people," the Prime Minister of Georgia underscored.
When asked about the public's requests that Russian people be granted visas, Garibashvili noted that the plan to establish a second front in the nation had failed, and those traitors who could not escape the 2008 conflict wanted to harm Georgian citizens. "Who does this affect when they try to halt tourism? We will make every effort to ensure that there is peace, stability, and growth in our economy. I have to focus on this," he remarked.
