The Minister of Economy of Armenia, Vahan Kerobyan, said that cargo ships from Armenia will be able to use ferries to move goods between Russia and Georgia through the Black Sea. "Now we are carrying out the final works, the schedule will be published in the near future," said the Minister of Economy of Armenia.

According to the information of the Armenian service of Radio Liberty, Kerobyan has talked about the date of availability of the service several times in recent months, although the ferry transportation has not yet started. At a meeting of the government on May 5, the minister said that ferry service would start on July 15. It is about how Armenia should get from the port of Poti to the Russian port of Kavkaz.

Armenia's Minister of Economy announced on August 12 that new difficulties have arisen as a result of the war in Ukraine. "It's not an easy issue, especially with such heavy geopolitical changes and pressures, but nevertheless, we hope that our work will yield results very soon," Vahan Kerobyan added. The load on the transit corridors of Georgia has increased significantly against the background of the war waged by Russia in Ukraine. Due to this, border guards, despite switching to a 24-hour working mode, are unable to manage cargo flows due to the length of time carriers have to stand in long queues. Moreover, the road passing through the Zemo Lars checkpoint is the only land route connecting Armenia and Russia. That's why ferry transportation is especiialy important alternative to this route.
