Aslan Bzhania and Alan Gagloev, the de facto leaders of the separatist regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia/Tskhinvali, visited the Russian Karachay-Cherkess Republic on September 7. Sergey Menyaylo, the head of North Ossetia-Alania, Alexander Novak, the Russian Deputy Prime Minister, and Yuri Chaika, the Presidential Envoy to the North Caucasus Federal District of Russia, all took part in the Karachay-Cherkessia 100th anniversary celebrations.

Gagloev and Bzhania conducted talks with Rashid Temrezov, the leader of Karachay-Cherkessia, separately. During their meeting, Gagloev spoke on bilateral ties in the fields of commerce, the economy, science, and culture with Temrezov. "Today, all favourable conditions have been created between our republics for the development of interaction in various fields of activity," Temrezov emphasized. During his meeting with Bzhania, the leader of Karachay-Cherkessia emphasised the value of fostering and bolstering ties between separatist Abkhazia and Karachay-Cherkessia.

Bzhania also met with Mussa Ekzekov, the head of the World Abaza Congress's Supreme Council. At the meeting, the development and preservation of the Abkhaz language and support for and implementation of scientific, cultural, sports, and other projects carried out by the WAC were the main topics of discussion.
