Irakli Garibashvili on People's Power movement

On October 10, Irakli Garibashvili, the Prime Minister of Georgia, emphasized the country's firm position on their choice and said that nobody could modify it.

In response to a question on the People's Power movement, which is made up of former Georgian Dream party members in power, Garibashvili remarked, "We live in a democracy, and everyone may join whichever group they wish. They are entitled to do so under the Constitution."

Earlier, on October 4, the ruling Georgian Dream party officially lost the majority in the parliament after five MPs left the party to join the anti-Western People Power movement. In a 150-seat Parliament, the Georgian Dream faction is presently down to 75 lawmakers.

Irakli Kobakhidze, the Georgian Dream Chairperson, confirmed this news and said: "Although there is a tactical disagreement regarding how much truth should be told on certain issues between GD and People Power, there is no significant difference between us on core values, which allows us to remain together in the Parliamentary majority." "The two political parties share a common viewpoint," MP Kobakhidze said. "They will work together to support the government's decisions regarding the 12 recommendations from the European Commission in particular," he added.
