At the conference within the framework of NATO Foreign Ministerial on November 29, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said that the European Union should extend from the Balkans to Georgia, including Ukraine and Moldova.
According to the Turkish FM, the EU should demonstrate unity to ensure security.
"We should rediscover the spirit of unity to ensure the new European security. The natural extension to that vision is being exclusive and deriving from the enlargement prospects of the EU. The enlargement should extend from the Balkans to Georgia, including Ukraine and Moldova. And this region cannot be complete without my country - Turkey," he said.
Earlier, on November 21, Caucasus Watch reported that NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg addressed the 68th Annual Session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (NPA). He emphasized the need to step up collaboration with Moldova, Georgia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The head of NATO stated that it was necessary to strengthen ties with all allies, particularly those most impacted by Russian aggression and pressure, such as the Republic of Moldova, Georgia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
