On December 4, Aslan Bzhania, the de-facto President of separatist Abkhazia, and Rustam Minnikhanov, the head of Tatarstan, who arrived on a one-day unofficial visit to the separatist republic, examined investment-attractive objects in the Gagra and Gulrypsh regions of Abkhazia.

Minnikhanov's visit to [separatist] Abkhazia primarily aims to strengthen ties in the economy and tourism. "Today, our guest is the respected leader of the fraternal Republic of Tatarstan. Our relationship has a long history. During the Patriotic War of the people of Abkhazia in 1992–93, the Republic of Tatarstan provided invaluable assistance to our republic. The friendly relations that arose at that time between the leaders of our countries, Vladislav Ardzinba and Mintimer Shaimiev, continue. We will try to fill our interaction with human and economic context," Bzhania said.

"We want to be actively present here; we want Abkhazian businesses to be present in Russia through our republic. Today we drove quite a lot of kilometers, looked at the settlements, and looked at the objects. The plans I heard today from the President of Abkhazia, Aslan Georgievich, are very positive. I am sure that shortly—and I wish it—Abkhazia will be the most beautiful place because the Almighty has already given it to you. You just need to cut it a little and skillfully present it," the head of Tatarstan said.

He suggested using the Tatarstan experience. "We are also actively developing public spaces, putting the embankment in order, using advanced international experience. Therefore, we are also ready to share this experience. Tatarstan is a major tourist region and is ready to be a supplier of a large volume of products in demand in Abkhazia," Minnikhanov added.
