On December 21, Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili began his official visit to the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The press service of the Georgian government administration released the information according to which bilateral high-level meetings were within the framework of the visit.
"Strengthening bilateral cooperation with the Gulf countries is one of our main priorities. Therefore, the visit of the Georgian Prime Minister to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia begins. The purpose of the visit is to further deepen and strengthen cooperation, political dialogue, and, on the other hand, economic relations. Let us strengthen it and let more investments come to our country", said before the visit the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ilia Darchiashvili.
The delegation also included Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili and Head of Government Administration Revaz Javelidze. A meeting between the Georgian PM and Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Prime Minister Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud was held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. Garibashvili and the government delegation arrived in Saudi Arabia on an official visit on December 21.
According to the official information released by the Georgian government, the Prime Ministers discussed the prospects of deepening economic cooperation, "highlighted the increased role and importance of Georgia as a transit hub connecting Asia and Europe and a transport corridor with great potential," and expressed by Saudi Arabia Readiness to utilize Georgia's potential more actively. According to Prime Minister Garibashvili, Georgia is an attractive country for Saudi Arabia in the direction of state investment funds and private business. After the meeting, he tweeted that they discussed current regional and global challenges and opportunities to expand partnerships in the context of common interests. Moreover, Minister of Economy Levan Davitashvili, by the decision of the Prime Ministers, joint working groups will be created in different fields, and reports will be made directly to the Prime Ministers twice a year. As Davitashvili said, Saudi Arabia, the largest Persian Gulf economy, has great potential for cooperation with Georgia. According to the Minister of Economy, Georgia and Saudi Arabia cooperate on all international political platforms, and Saudi Arabia firmly supports Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
